Introduction: This is an immediate follow up to the last episode. Koichi and his mother go to Tsuyoshi's place to collect his things. As unexpected obstacles arise, the situation almost escalates into catastrophy.

Note: I don't know the name of Koichi's mother. But when I decided to write this scene, I found it so difficult to always write "Koichi's mother", so I just invented a name. It is (if not for a very strange coincidence  ^_^  ) not her real name.

“Mom, do you really think this is a good idea?” Koichi asked, sounding sceptical.

“This might well be our only chance to ever get Tsuyoshi-kun’s stuff out of there,” his mother declared determinedly. “So, here we go.”

With that she rang the door bell. A moment later the door swung open and a young woman was standing in the frame, blinking at the strange couple outside her door.

“Good afternoon,” Koichi’s mother said friendly, but firmly. “My name is Domoto Shizuki, this is my son, Koichi.”

Koichi bowed slightly at the introduction. His mother thought she even heard him mumble a silent greeting formula, but she paid no attention to it whatsoever.

“We are here to collect some of Tsuyoshi-kun’s personal possessions,” Shizuki continued in a matter-of-fact voice. “So, if you please, we’re only gonna be a minute.”

“What what what?!?!?!” Tsuyoshi’s mother stuttered, still blinking.

“Koichi, go get upstairs and start packing,” Shizuki told her son, who nodded and, after carefully slipping off his shoes hurried up the stairs to Tsuyoshi’s room.

“Well,” Koichi’s mother said, nodding at the other woman, “should we have a talk in your kitchen? I think that would be nice.”

Without waiting for an answer Shizuki dragged the other woman into the house, making sure to close the front door before they moved to the back part.

“I want to ask you something, Domoto-san,” Shizuki said pointedly. “Do you know where your son is?”

The other woman just blinked at her. “What…. Is this?” she demanded, gasping.

“I asked a question first,” Koichi’s mother pointed out. “And it should be easy enough to answer, don’t you agree? Where is your son right now?”

“I….” Tsuyoshi’s mother wanted to oppose once more, but Shizuki’s stare bore into her like a sword and she gulped. “I…. don’t know,” she admitted silently.

“I see,” Shizuki sighed. “Well, then, isn’t it a good thing that I know where he is?”

The other woman nodded warily.

“Yes, I think so too,” Koichi’s mother agreed. “And aren’t you gonna ask me where Tsuyoshi-kun is, after 3 heart-wrecking days of not knowing his exact location, during which you didn’t even bother to call him to make sure he will be alright after you threw him out of your house in the middle of the night and during storming rain?”

As the initial shock wore out, Tsuyoshi’s mother finally went for counter attack. “Will you at least hear my reasoning? What do you know about my son?!” she demanded harshly. “You might not know everything about your own son as it is. Do you know how they are involved, him and Tsuyoshi?”

“I would not have come here without full information,” Shizuki shot right back. “About the situation anyway. If you mean to go for details, I have none. I wouldn’t give any such thing away – actually, I would not even ask about it. What my son does in his private rooms is his own private matter and not for me to interrogate into.”

At that Tsuyoshi’s mother stared again. “What, you…. So you’re totally okay with…. well, what they do?”

“What ever do they do?” Koichi’s mother asked pointedly. “From what I’ve seen they love each other dearly and watch out for each other with a care that I wish my husband – and may he please forgive me for saying this – would show for me. What’s so outrageous about that?!”

Suddenly the kitchen door flew open and Koichi came strutting right in.

“Nope,” he said casually, speaking into his cell, “that was my mother pointing out how she thinks you love me and teasing dad at the same time. She does that.”

Both women blinked as he started to open several cupboards.

“Can’t find it,” Koichi complained. He turned around to Tsuyoshi’s mother. “Sorry, I’m looking for Tsuyoshi’s coffee cup. Blue with golden stars on it?”

The woman blinked two more times, then, without any drive pointed to the dish washer.

“Ah,” Koichi said, walking straight over to the machine and opening it. “Got it,” he declared with a triumphant grin as he took the item in question out. “I’ll wash it later. Ano, anything else?”

There was a short silence, then Koichi turned back to Tsuyoshi’s mother again.

“Tsuyoshi says hi,” he stated simply, then turned around again and left the room.

Shizuki grinned after her son.

“Quite a character,” Tsuyoshi’s mother said flatly.

“You can say that again,” Koichi’s mother agreed. “But, you know, Tsuyoshi is quite a character too. Are you not worried about him at all?”

“He can watch out for himself,” the other woman defended herself. “And it was him who made the choice.”

“Yes, to choose between your parents and the person you love, that will leave quite an impression on him, for sure,” Shizuki scoffed.

“He cannot….. be like that and live here,” Tsuyoshi’s mother explained.

“I see,” Koichi’s mother nodded. “The fact alone that you are so taken aback by all of this shows already the questionable relationship to your son,” she informed the other woman. “As it is, the initial shock can be big, so I want to give you the opportunity to catch up with your son, if you like. He and Koichi have been staying at our place, but it’s become too crowded. From now on they are each going to live in their own apartment. I’m telling you this so you can think of something to tell your friends and family. You will not get the address, or Tsuyoshi’s new phone number. If you wish to have contact, you can call me here.”

She handed the woman a card with her number on it.

“That should be everything,” Shizuki concluded, nodding. “Do you have anything to say? Or any questions?” she offered.

Tsuyoshi’s mother licked her lips nervously. “Tell him…. Tell him he can always come back, should he change his mind.”

Koichi’s mother looked at her sadly. “I will deliver the message,” she said simply.

Then she turned around to leave the kitchen. The other woman followed her and they met Koichi on the floor, who was carrying a big box with Tsuyoshi’s stuff in it.

“I’ll help you,” Shizuki declared.

“No need,” Koichi informed her. “I’m done.”

“What – already?” Koichi’s mother blinked.

“Well, Tsuyoshi doesn’t have a lot of clothes,” Koichi shrugged. “And the Playstation, his comics and the porn were easy enough to collect.”

“Thank you for the details,” Shizuki sighed. “But very well. Sooner than expected we should make our leave.”

Koichi nodded, smiling.

“What on earth is going on?!”

All heads turned to the street. A man was standing there, with his mouth open as he stared at the scene.

“Kazuro,” Tsuyoshi’s mother squeaked out. “Ano….”

“Your husband?” Shizuki asked.

The other woman nodded.

“I see,” Koichi’s mother sighed out, bracing herself. “Good evening, Domoto-san,” she greeted the man. “I am Domoto Shizuki. Your son is living at my house currently and we…”

“I have no son,” the man declared flatly. “What are you doing in my house?! Get lost!” he raged, advancing Shizuki and her son.

The woman shielded her son protectively, standing her ground.

“And is that the little bastard who got Tsuyoshi twisted in his head?” Tsuyoshi’s father asked bitingly. “Are you the one, huh?” he asked, trying to swish past Shizuki, but failing.

“My son does not get anyone twisted, and neither is he twisted in any way,” Koichi’s mother declared.

“Leave Tsuyoshi alone, you sick brat,” the man demanded.

As he turned more aggressive Shizuki decided to leave the scene.

“That’s about enough,” she decided. She shooed Koichi back down the stairs to the street.

“Leave him!” Tsuyoshi’s father demanded.

“I love him, which is more than I can say for you!” Koichi burst out, tears in his eyes.

“Koichi,” Shizuki gasped, looking at her son worriedly.

“If you really did love him you would do so no matter what. And see what a wonderful person he is. And not belittle him for having artistic ambitions. He is talented. And he is kind hearted and patient and loving and…. you don’t care about any of that. But I do!”

There was a moment’s silence. Then Tsuyoshi’s father jumped down the stairs, going for Koichi. His wife stood in the door, shrieking. Shizuki forced Koichi back.

“Get into the car,” she said hurriedly.

Koichi jumped in and locked the door.

“You sick little fucker!” the man raged, hammering against the window. “I’ll show you. I don’t give a shit if you hold up your ass for others to fuck you. But not Tsuyoshi! You go through with those sick perversions of yours. Go, fuck whatever you want. Go, get sick. Go, die of it!” He screamed madly.

That was when Shizuki had finally managed to get into the car as well, start the engine and press hard down to have the car jump to a sharp start with squealing tires. She didn’t break, even for red lights for five minutes, just going as far and as quickly as she possibly could, taking random turns.

After finally she didn’t even know where she was anymore, she pulled over and stopped the car. She kept sitting there for a while, still in shock. Then she looked over to where Koichi was sitting. The boy was shaking from head to toe, heaving in shock and frustration.

“Koichi,” she said softly.

“I’m not sick,” Koichi sobbed out, tears welling up. “I’m not sick. I’m not….”

“No, of course, you’re not,” Shizuki said firmly. “He’s the one who’s sick. To yell at a child like that.”

“Do you not think like that?” Koichi asked, his face tear-stricken. “You said you wanted something different for me. Tsuyoshi told me you said that.”

“Well, I said that, yes,” Shizuki admitted. “Oh, but Koichi,” she continued, pulling her son into a warm hug. “I meant I wanted something different for you. I mean, I must rely on your sister now for grand children, but that won’t kill me. What I meant was, I want a decent life for you. I want you happy. And safe. And I would want to spare you situations like that one. I’m afraid that you will have to suffer living this life. And I’m worried about that.” She sobbed too.

“Mom….” Koichi croaked out, clinging to his mother tightly. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” Shizuki told him, stroking the back of his head softly. “And I love Tsuyoshi. The two of you will always be part of our family, no matter what.”

“Thank you,” Koichi sighed out in relief.

“That is not something to be grateful for,” Shizuki said firmly. “It really goes without saying. My love for you is unconditional. Never forget that.”

Koichi nodded against his mother’s shoulder and Shizuki smiled, patting the boy.

After a few more minutes Koichi calmed down again. As they both settled down a bit, they continued their journey to Tsuyoshi’s new apartment.

“You know how to be save, right?” Shizuki asked, as they drew close to the place.

“Mom!” Koichi demanded, blushing.

“It’s important,” his mother shrugged.

“Well,” Koichi stuttered helplessly, “yes it is. But I’m fine. Really.”

“Good,” Shizuki nodded. “I mean, if you haven’t already…. most supposedly tonight….”

“Oh god, mom, stop it!” Koichi yelled out.

“Just make sure you’ve got a condom on you,” she said evenly.

“I do,” Koichi informed her flatly. “There, happy now?”

“Well, yes, in a way,” Shizuki grinned.

“Goodness, I so can’t do it tonight,” Koichi announced, shaking his head.

Shizuki laughed at that and Koichi joined in as the car stopped in front of one of the new fancy sky scrapers, where Tsuyoshi was already standing at the door, waiting for them.

“Hey,” Tsuyoshi greeted Koichi happily. “Domoto-san,” he said, bowing to Koichi’s mother.

“What’s that?” the woman demanded. “I’m Shizuki. Shizuki,” she declared, pointing at herself.

“Alright,” Tsuyoshi grinned happily. “It’s on the 12th floor,” he explained, holding up the keys.

“Okay, let’s get going,” Shizuki stated firmly. “It’s getting late and you two want to get some rest after this long day. Plus, Koichi is moving tomorrow, which means more work ahead.”

“Yeah, there is a lot to do,” Tsuyoshi agreed. “Any trouble at my place?”

“Former place,” Koichi corrected him immediately. “And no,” he said, smiling brightly. “Nothing at all. Now, let’s get going.”

Tsuyoshi nodded, smiling and grabbed one of his boxes.

Okay, this one was intense. It actually pained me to torment Koichi so. And I felt even worse for Tsuyoshi, who would have had to "survive" in such an environment. Ah, authors tend to be too cruel to their characters. Well, somehow I thought that Koichi should learn a bit about how Tsuyoshi felt and what his bringing up was like. Just a glimpse. Anyway, that's it for the dark chapters. At least for now. In the last few lines I've already initiated the sex talk again, so now we're getting down to business. ^_^
