Notes: Woah, it's been forever. So sorry. I've been working on this chapter forever, and even now I'm not really happy with it. But then, towards the end I found I finally got a certain flow again. So, I'll post it as it is now and I hope you're gonna like it and the characters I'm introducing. I'm very excited about a certain number of them, since it's gonna be their first time as supporting characters in my stories. I really hope you'll like them.

Intro: Not too long into theri new life, everybody find themselves facing new problems. Little space, just a handful of people and a lot of questions, fears and needs. How do you deal with a situation you cannot improve, but cannot escape from either? And in the middle of all this mess Koichi and Tsuyoshi both try to remain some kind of order - in very different ways. fortunately, they have some other people by their sides to support them. ^^

“Tsuyoshi-san,” Yara called out silently. “I have news from the research centre.”
Tsuyoshi turned to look at him. “Do I really want to know?”
He knew, of course, that Yara must have come with good news. He really liked that guy too. He was a bit impulsive and very straightforward, but Tsuyoshi liked that about him. Plus, Yara was about his own age, which made it easier to hand some responsibility over to him. For most things they would agree too, so it was nice working together like that. He just felt that he simply had to revolt in some way. What that Koichi guy did was dangerous, after all. No matter what he said, there was an unnecessary…

“Well, you know,” Yara tried carefully, ripping his group leader from his train of thoughts, “you might not really like the idea too much, but honestly, I think it’s great that Koichi-kun keeps working so hard. And I’m happy that I can support him at least a bit.”
Tsuyoshi scoffed. “Yeah, I bet he was over-joyed. No doubt he’ll rub it in my face that someone from my shelter is working under him, supporting his reckless ideas.”
“I assure you, Tsuyoshi-san, everything we do is safe,” Yara told him. “And Koichi-kun is a great lead. If it weren’t for him…”
“I’d be able to sleep soundly,” Tsuyoshi grumbled out.

“Are you very sure you don’t want the news?” Yara asked evenly. “I think they’re pretty good. We spent the past two days researching and verifying this.”
“Well, then, enlighten me,” the older man sighed.
“We will not starve,” Yara told him, looking happy all of a sudden. “We’ve found a way to kill the virus very effectively in organisms.”
Tsuyoshi stared at that. “What – really?”
“Don’t get too excited,” Yara warned him. “It’s quite simple, really, but for us it’s impossible to kill it effectively in that way. It’ll just make vegetables and meat edible.”

“So, how does it work?” Tsuyoshi asked eagerly.
“It’s actually pretty simple,” Yara shrugged. “Heat. If you heat the food well, the virus dies and thus can’t infect you, even when you eat something that has been infected. They just gave this information from the centre.”
The older man nodded. “Yeah, that makes sense. Well, I guess that means that we’ll be able to survive for a while. I wish we could share our knowledge with other people as well.”
“I don’t think that’s impossible,” Yara mused. “I mean, the connections won’t be stable forever, but for the time being, why shouldn’t we use whatever electronical devices we find in order to pass on information?”
“You think that’s possible?” Tsuyoshi asked.

“Why not? It’s not like anything drastic happened. Well, I’m clearly not an expert. But I know someone who might be the man for this.”
“Well then, get him,” Tsuyoshi demanded. Then he revised. Had he just given an order? Shifting uncomfortably, he re-phrased. “I mean, will you please go looking for this guy? It might be good to contact other groups.”
“Right,” Yara grinned, noticing the other’s discomfort.
Then, with a slight bow he swept off.
“Such an energetic guy,” Yonehana mused lazily.

Tsuyoshi smiled amusedly. It wasn’t like Yonehana was a lethargic guy himself. While he’d had doubts about letting him stay when Machida had run off to Koichi – they were pretty close, after all – Yonehana had proved to be a huge win. He was reliable, sensible, calm and refined. Very much Machida’s counter part, one might assess. Tsuyoshi had found himself wondering more than once about how on earth those two connected. But then, who was he to judge. So long as no trouble arose from that, which it really didn’t. Actually, it was mainly due to Yonehana’s and Machida’s good relation that his group was able to interact with Koichi’s at all. Not that he made it a very big point, but then, they weren’t exactly a lot of people, so they had to rely on each other somehow, he knew that very well.
“Or maybe he’s just trying to impress you?” Yonehana mused playfully.

“I seriously doubt that,” Tsuyoshi chuckled. “And it’s a good thing we have such people around.”
“Koichi-kun is the same kind,” Yonehana teased.
“He might be,” the older man gave him, “but his attitude is bad.”
“And yet you show so much interest in him,” Yonehana complained.
“What do you mean, interest?” Tsuyoshi asked bitingly. “I’m watching that guy. He’s always up to no good.”
“Yeah, getting us options for food,” the taller man grinned teasingly. “What a cunning guy.”

“What are you insinuating?” the older man frowned.
“I’m not insinuating anything,” Yonehana kept grinning. “Just wondering why you keep stalking that guy for no good reason.”
“Yeah, but you mean what? That I am actually really after him?” Tsuyoshi inquired, making a face.
“Oh come on, don’t act like this now,” Yonehana groaned, rolling his eyes. “That so doesn’t suit your natural honesty and straightforwardness. Everybody knows he’s really hot.”
“Yeah, and some guys have tasted some of his fire, if I remember correctly?” the older man mused.

“Well, he can easily be taken for a girl, so…”
“Bullshit,” Tsuyoshi interrupted him. “Whoever says that is merely trying to cover the embarrassing fact that when they feel needy enough they won’t be picky to get a fuck. A guy is a guy no matter how you look at him and you can either do with that, or you can’t.”
“But it’s true that he is… well, pretty,” the other mumbled.
“It is certainly true he’s got one pretty face,” Tsuyoshi shrugged. “Pretty faces are always the most-wanted when it’s about sex, be it in here or anywhere else. Doesn’t have a thing to do with gender, I’m telling you.”

“My, you are so wise, Tsuyoshi-san,” the younger man dragged out lazily.
“At the very least I’m wiser than you,” Tsuyoshi countered teasingly. “And I’m not lusting after that arrogant brat.”
“And yet you keep seeking him out. Are you jealous in another way maybe?”
Tsuyoshi merely gave the other a clueless look.
“Well, from what I’ve heard he’s someone who got lucky with a girl,” Yonehana explained.
“Oh, that,” Tsuyoshi muttered, waving the other off. “Couldn’t care less.”

A short silence followed. And not just between the two of them, the room was very quiet as almost everybody had gone out to enjoy some rare sunlight.
“Ano, Tsuyoshi-san,” Yonehana finally spoke up again.
“Hm?”
“Do you really have… no such feelings?” the younger man asked carefully.
“What do you mean exactly?” Tsuyoshi asked back, shifting a bit.
“Well, you know… lusting after someone. That kind of need,” Yonehana explained.

“For now I’m fine,” the other shrugged. “You having trouble?”
More silence, then a feeble shrug.
“I see,” Tsuyoshi smiled, turning to face the other fully. “Want to take care of some needs?”
Yonehana blinked at him, confused. Then an almost adorable blush covered his cheeks.
“I-is it okay?” he stuttered.
“Mh,” Tsuyoshi confirmed. “I don’t mind. I do you, you do me.”

And so they played a bit, enjoying a little intimacy. It was supposed to be about needs, without trying to cover anything up. They were both guys, they were well-aware of it and they accepted that. It felt a bit weird, but a nice hard-on that got some good attention made up for a lot of awkwardness. It was supposed to be about needs. And yet Tsuyoshi was the one who at some point found himself giving random caresses and leaning in for soft kisses. His advances were accepted readily and so no more awkwardness arose, but somehow he knew that he was going somewhere he had not intended. It didn’t really matter, though. So long as they agreed on what they wanted to do.

“Ah.” A small cry.
“Ssssshhhhhhh,” Koichi shushed Miko. “Some of the guys are playing next door.”
“Hah,” Miko sighed, shifting her hips forward lightly.
“Ungh, fuck,” Koichi cursed, slapping his hips against the girl’s, moving desperately.
He could hear her panting under him, eyes closed in bliss. Closing his own eyes he concentrated on the sensations running through his body, hot and wet and oh so good.
“Fuck, yeah,” he gasped out, snapping his hips wildly as his orgasm built.

He heard a soft complaining whine, but he knew Miko wouldn’t really mind. He was almost there, almost… And then he came with a suppressed groan, dick jetting and body shuddering pleasurably. He sighed in content, trying to catch his breath. He slid out and went straight for the girl’s hot-spot, rubbing it. Miko bit her lips against a moan, moving her hips forward for more.
“Yes, yes,” she mewled.

“Come,” Koichi whispered softly into her ear. “Come on. Feel it. It’s right there. You just have to let it… let it happen.” He kept whispering to her as he felt the girl tensing. “Okay, that’s it. Right. It’s right there. Come on…”
He knew that she came when he felt a hand gripping at his arm desperately, Miko’s eyes rolling back and her body twitching. She hitched a few breaths as though she was short of air, then let out a soft moan and slowly started to relax again. Koichi got a pat to his arm and sighed.
“Thanks,” he muttered as he drew back to get some space.

“Same,” Miko sighed out happily. “It’s nice with you,” she told him. “You’re not demanding. And you know the meaning of the word no when it’s given to you.”
Koichi frowned slightly at that. Miko had moved into his shelter for protection. She had been attacked somewhere. Fortunately Machida had heard the rumble and saved her – even though it was a pity they never found who had attacked her. The field were indeed dangerous for the female habitants. Koichi himself had felt weak sometimes, so he basically understood what was going on in other men’s minds, but still… forcing someone, that was completely out of the question.
“Some guys are just… they are no better than animals, really,” he stated bluntly.

“Talking about animals,” Miko mused. “You said we could cook them.”
“So long as we cook them right,” Koichi confirmed.
“But how are we gonna get them if we can’t get out?” Miko asked.
“Well, I’ve been thinking about that,” Koichi told her. “I mean, we can grow vegetables here right away. Some are even still in here and I think it’ll work well to cultivate them, so we won’t have to starve. It would still be good to have meat. And you know, I think it might be possible. I’ll have to do some more research, of course, but really, I can’t be that special. I mean, there must be a reason, why I didn’t transform. At least not fully. So, I’m thinking that most probably there’s a time limit within which you can go outside and be safe. I just have to find the limit, is all.”

“And then we can go out again?” Miko asked happily.
“Don’t get too excited,” Koichi warned her. “It might be no more than a few minutes for all I know. Plus, we have no idea what awaits us out there. Not to mention that Tsuyoshi-san will definitely not like the idea and if it’s just because it’s from my mouth. He’s gonna sabotage us for sure.”
“Don’t say stuff like that,” Miko mumbled out as she collected her clothes and started to dress again. “He’s a good and caring guy.”

“He’s just trying to get everybody under his command, because he thinks that his ways and ideas are the only legitimate option,” Koichi told her. “Guys like him are dangerous, they easily get corrupted, or mad with power.”
“Now you’re being ridiculous,” Miko chuckled. “Could it be that you don’t like it how he’s drawing some attention away from you?”
“This might surprise you now,” Koichi said with a smile, “but I so don’t care about attention.”
“Really?”
“Really.”

Their conversation got interrupted as they heard a soft rumbling. Koichi frowned.
“Sorry,” he mumbled as he got up, quickly just grabbing his pants and putting them on, as he sneaked to the door and glimpsed outside. He blinked.

Matsuzaki?

Another frown appeared on his face and without even thinking about it, he slipped out the door and, always making sure not to be seen, followed the younger boy down the street. Matsuzaki was one of those Koichi had grown very fond of. He was a clever kid and he could be really sweet – without the corny touch and that was definitely rare. Plus, he seemed very kind-hearted – almost pure even, which filled Koichi’s heart with joy. The boy was studying under him too and Koichi was hoping that he would soon be able to join the research team. Maybe he was about research right there too and didn’t want Koichi to know. He’d be embarrassed. But even so Koichi could not resist and kept following the boy around the area, wanting to know what exactly he was up to. Plus, it would be fun to tease him later.

But then something hit him as curious. Matsuzaki was moving similarly to him, as thought he too was trying not to be seen. After some more sneaking about and (as he realised later) quite a detour as well, Koichi raised his brow in surprise as he realised they were nearing a very special shelter. The one that hosted girls only. Koichi watched as Matsuzaki got closer to the building, slid around, most probably to reach the backside where he couldn’t be seen easily. Biting his lip, Koichi dashed out of his hide and followed the younger man. When he found him again, he couldn’t help gulping in shock. Matsuzaki was kneeling in front of a barred window and playing with the buckle of his belt.

Talk about animals… Matsuzaki… Why? Seriously, this is bad.

Koichi watched reluctantly. He didn’t really know what to do, but he thought he definitely could not let Matsuzaki… well, do this. And so he sneaked over, making sure the boy would not see him until he was close enough to grab him firmly.
“What are you doing here?”
Koichi was glad the other merely jumped at his hushed, but biting voice. It would have been bad had Matsuzaki cried out. He quickly grabbed the younger’s shoulder and pulled him out of the shadows, bringing a comfortable distance between them and the Lady shelter.
“Okay, spill it, what were you doing there?” Koichi demanded again.

Matsuzaki first still stared at him in shock, but then collected himself again and pulled free of Koichi’s grip.
“What?” he demanded defensively. “I was just… watching.”
“Watching…” Koichi repeated. “What?”
Matsuzaki sighed. “Oh, come on, Koichi. What do you want? I mean, we can’t all be as lucky as you are. Miko likes you and she accepts you, which is good for you, but… well, I have needs too.”

Koichi sighed. “I know that, but… you can’t do stuff like that.”
“Why not?” Matsuzaki wanted to know. “I’m not hurting anyone. I’m only watching.”
“There’s just the question of how long watching will be enough and you are actually going to hurt someone,” Koichi told him sternly.
“Seriously, Koichi,” Matsuzaki countered, “I would never do that.”
“Oh no?” Koichi asked in a curious voice. “How can I trust you with this when I caught even myself… well, thinking things.”

At that Matsuzaki stared for a moment, but then he shrugged.
“Well, if you’re that weak,” he mused.
“Don’t belittle me now, “Koichi warned him. “I’m here to help you. You’ve got to be careful, or else this might turn out bad.”
“And what do you suggest I do instead?” the younger man asked daringly.
Koichi stared at him for a long while, then sighed. “Well,” he finally stated, “I understand your feelings. And you are right that I got lucky. So… if you feel the need… just… come to me.”

At that Matsuzaki blinked. “What do you mean, `come to you´?”
“I mean that I will… attend to your needs,” Koichi explained. “You can call upon me for that.”
“You,” Matsuzaki wanted to confirm. “You’re saying that instead of being here, I can… have you. For sex.”
Koichi merely shrugged at him. “That’s the best I can offer.”

“Well, thanks for that and all,” the younger boy laughed nervously, “but… really, I’m not into guys.”
“Oh, guess what, neither am I,” Koichi bit at him. “I’m just offering this to you as… well, a friend. You know, so you won’t do anything stupid.”
“I’m not gonna do anything in the first place,” Matsuzaki informed him bitingly and with that turned to leave.
Koichi looked after him with a sigh. Things were going to be tough.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

“Men are disgusting,” Machida said, sounding annoyed with the story about Matsuzaki, as he took away another cuvette to pour its contents down the drain.
Koichi gave him a pointed look, but then shook his head as he couldn’t help a grin.
“Really, Macchin,” he chuckled. “That means you too.”
The other just shrugged at that. “Well, I guess I am a bit disgusting.”
“And I’m disgusting too?” Koichi asked playfully, as he bent over his microscope to check yet another blood sample.

Machida blinked at that. “Wha- oh, no, no, no. You’re not…” he broke off.
“A man?” Koichi asked with a grin as he got back up.
“I… didn’t say that,” Machida defended himself, a soft blush coming to his face. “You’re just… different.”
“Ah,” Koichi made, nodding. “Well, thanks, I suppose. Sadly, no luck with that one either,” he added, pointing his head at the microscope. “The virus is spreading if I add more substance.” He sighed. “This is really not good.”

“Which sample was this?” Fujigaya wanted to know.
“The one I took two hours ago,” the older man said with a sad smile. “So, in my opinion, the next two will determine our fate. If our limit for going out is beyond 60 minutes, I don’t think we’ll be able to supply ourselves sufficiently.”
“Koichi-kun,” Tsubasa cut in, frowning slightly, “don’t scare the boy now.”
“What?” Koichi shrugged. “That’s just the way it is and we’ll learn soon enough.”
“I know that,” Tsubasa mumbled. “But still…”

“I should lie to him trying to make him feel more comfortable?” Koichi asked sarcastically. “That would be bothersome for me and insulting for him. He’s not an idiot.”
“And he’s standing right here,” Fujigaya interrupted them irritatedly. “It’s okay, I can handle the truth. I’m here to help discovering it, after all.”
Koichi had to smile inwardly. This guy was really good for their team. While Fujigaya was the youngest in the research team, he was very smart and mature – which he had to admit was quite important, seeing how the rest of the team was either hot-headed, thick-headed, or rammed their heads right into the nearest wall that seemed to be in the way.

Fujigaya sighed. “It’s bad that your sample showed reactions. But there’s two more, so let’s hope we get lucky.”
“That’s right,” Machida nodded, giving Tsubasa a dirty look. “And don’t bite at Koichi like that. Without him none of this would be possible, after all.”
“My, my, seems we’ve got a teacher’s pet here, ne?” Tsubasa teased with a grin.
Fujigaya sighed. “Guys, can we please just get the next sample ready?”

Koichi felt very proud at this guy. He remembered that the boy had been seriously wary on his first day, just standing around, watching most of the time, as if afraid that he could make the building collapse by misplacing a beaker. But then, he had adjusted very quickly and he was learning fast as well. Actually, as he thought about it Koichi mused that Fujigaya was probably the most helpful hand in his team.
“Right,” Koichi agreed. “I’ll get the solution. Macchin, the sample, please.”
Machida looked a bit pained. “Ano… can’t Tsubasa-kun do it?”

Koichi blinked at him. “Eh? Why?”
“Well… I mean, I think it’s really cool that you do all of this with your own blood, but really… I can’t quite watch it.”
Fujigaya rolled his eyes. “Here, I’ll do it,” he offered, grabbing the sample.
“Okay, thanks,” Koichi nodded. He took a deep breath. “Alright, guys, this is it.”

_______________________________________________________________________________________

“It was your idea, right?” Tsuyoshi asked, sounding nonchalant, but Koichi could tell that he wanted to tease him.
A huge crowd had formed in front of the big sliding doors that separated the camp from the outside world. Koichi had never been this reluctant that their cupola was made of glass. He wanted to hide somewhere in the dark, so that nobody could see him. Well, it was a huge thing, he understood that. The first try of going out. Koichi had found in his research that the virus could not infiltrate a body effectively, if there wasn’t a sufficient number of others around. So, during long days of research he had estimated a time span during which it should be possible to move safely around on the outside – theoretically, that is.

As he had spread the news, naturally there was the call for an according… well, experiment. If he succeeded in this, they would definitely not have to starve. Plus, there might be more material for research out there. Not that he intended to bring anything back right away. First he had to get back himself. No, first he had to get out there. That was already a big deal. Well, fortunately the sliding door did not have to be opened completely. It would have been dangerous. As it was, there were two “small” shutters that a grown guy could easily slip through.

No need to say that Tsuyoshi still felt very wary about it, but he too knew how important it was for them to get supplies from the outside. But his feelings showed in his attitude and he made Koichi feel everything but comfortable. And while he was naturally scared, he had readily answered the call when he was asked to go. But as he was standing there, his mind filled with doubts. Most of them were, however, not about a mis-calculation on his part, wild mutant animals, or other weird stuff he might find out there. His most prominent concern was actually standing right next to him. What if…?

“I want some kind of insurance that you will let me back in if I don’t show any serious symptoms,” Koichi demanded. “I’m doing this, but I want to know that I’m safe.”
“You can’t be safe out there,” Tsuyoshi told him.
“But you’re telling me to go,” Koichi reminded him.
“Why, you said it was okay,” the other shrugged. “You said it’s safe for about an hour. That’s what your research said, isn’t it?”

“I know what I’ve told you,” Koichi spit at him. “But I know you don’t trust my research. So how can I trust you to let me back in?”
Tsuyoshi thought on that for a while. “If you have enough confidence in your own research to face the world outside that door,” he declared, pointing at their huge door, “then I give you my word that within an hour if you return without any harm, you will be allowed entrance again.”
“Well, I guess I’ll have to go by your word,” Koichi sighed, bracing himself.

He could feel everybody’s eyes on him. Noone had ever left the amp ever since they had arrived. Well, they knew that death awaited them out there, so it wasn’t the first place you’d want to go. Unfortunately, the camp was running out of food quickly, so death had sneaked its way into the camp and thus someone had to sneak out and bring some life back in. Koichi was just a bit reluctant that it had to be him. He’d been “chosen” by a vast majority. He wondered if some of the people standing there thought he really had super powers that made him invincible. That they were convinced that no matter what he did, he would not die out there.

He, of course, knew very well that everything out there was dangerous for him. Adding to that he had noticed Tsuyoshi’s little “condition” that he returned unharmed in order to be welcomed back in. So, if he got hurt he might be left out there to die. Tsuyoshi certainly would make sure he wouldn’t set a foot back into the camp if there was the slightest chance that he might have been infected any further. He was facing death. There was certainly a way to trick him, but would he be able to do that? And nobody seemed to care a bit. Everybody was simply looking at him expectantly, wanting him to finally leave and then return with good news, or not at all, either seemed fine. As that thought caused a bitter lump in his throat, he felt a hand clasping his shoulder. As he turned, he could see Machida’s concerned, yet smiling face next to his own.

“Take care, Koichi-kun,” Machida mumbled out and then flung himself at Koichi, who started a bit at the sudden move, but then smiled thankfully and returned the hug.
“Thank you,” he whispered, before drawing back again.
With an encouraging nod, Koichi went to the door and, taking another deep breath, flew out as quickly as possible.

The wind was unexpectedly disturbing at first. Somehow the fact that he was out on a wide field didn’t make him feel relieved, or something, but rather scared him. He was really completely alone now. Nobody else was there. Well, nobody he could be sure would not kill him at sight. But then, he’d had that inside the camp as well, so it wasn’t exactly all that different. For a second Koichi thought it was strange that the thought of Tsuyoshi of all people made him feel more at ease, but then he braced himself and made to check his surroundings. It felt strange. It seemed like nothing much had changed since the day he’d moved into the camp. Huge houses down wide streets, even some of the traffic lights were still on. The only difference that hit him hard was that there were no people anywhere.

He strolled down the street, taking in his surroundings. Once or twice he heard a rustling sound and jumped. Sounds implied that there was something moving around the area. He couldn’t tell what, or what it would mean. If there were still living organisms in the area, apparently, there must have been a way to find out how those organisms survived and adapted to the virus – if he could avoid them effectively enough to reach the camp again safely. Suddenly he thought he saw a shadow moving in the corner of his eye. His head swished around and he thought he’d seen something whizzing behind a couple of dustbins. He bit his lip. Then he braced himself and advanced the dustbins in question.

“Hey there, little one,” he said softly. “It’s fine. You can come out, I’m not gonna hurt you, so please don’t rip out my throat, okay?” Still everything was quiet. He closed in on the dustbins. “Here, kitty, kitty, kitty…”
Suddenly a little furry something jumped out from between the bins and dashed off around the corner. Koichi blinked. Then he smiled slightly. It might actually have been a cat. But then, it had looked strange. Like something he’d never seen before. He thought on what to do. In the end he decided that it would be unwise to push his luck. He’d been out and he’d seen a living creature. It was time he returned to the camp and reported to the others and so he carefully made his way back. As he knocked on the shutter, as he had expected, Tsuyoshi’s voice rang from the inside.
“How was it?”

Koichi sighed exasperatedly. “I’ll tell you in a second. Come on, let me back inside.”
At first there was no answer. Then Tsuyoshi spoke up warily again. “Are you unharmed?”
Koichi gave a teasing grin. “My entire body’s flawless,” he declared. “Check for yourself, if you please.”
His grin grew broader as he heard a grunt from within and then the shutter being opened.
“Tadaima,” he declared with a wink.
Tsuyoshi merely scoffed at him.

“Okaeri nasai,” Machida called out happily.
“Okaeri, Koichi-kun,” Matsuzaki said with a slight nod.
Koichi smiled at the two and nodded back.
“So, have you seen anything interesting?” Tsuyoshi asked impatiently.
“Oh, Tsuyoshi-san, you don’t need to be shy,” Koichi said teasingly, a smirk on his lips. “You can just ask me if I find you interesting.”

“You want me to go out there and look for myself, is that it?” Tsuyoshi asked irritatedly.
“Why, there’s a thought,” Koichi mused playfully. “But first let me tell you that you might meet something out there.”
Tsuyoshi blinked at him. “What do you mean?”
“Well, I found an animal out there,” the older man explained.
“A living animal?” Tsuyoshi asked, surprised.
The other merely nodded.
“So… that means…”

“That apparently other organisms can adapt to the virus without dying from it, Koichi concluded. “Now I just have to catch one of them, so I can do some research.”
“I’ve told you before,” Tsuyoshi bit at him, “that you’re not bringing infected material in here.”
“Relax,” Koichi sighed out. “I’m fine, aren’t I? So, that means that even infected material would be fine, at least for an hour. Plus, if the animal in question is dead, I can kill the virus easily.”
“And that will help your research how?” Tsuyoshi asked sarcastically.
“You wouldn’t understand that,” Koichi countered, sticking out his tongue at the other.

Yara shook his head, sighing at the scene. “Just like two little school kids.”
“Ne?” Uchi agreed. “But then, their dynamics might be good for us.”
“You think?” Yara asked, scratching his head.
“Sure,” Uchi assured him. “They are both striving for the same thing. Their ways might be different, but they both want the best for all of us. I think that’s gonna turn out fine.”
“If you say so,” Yara said sceptically. “They both seem to be quite stubborn. I wonder whether they’ll be able to work together.”

“They’re gonna be fine,” Uchi insisted. “For now, why don’t we try to work together? Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!”
Yara blinked as the younger man bowed slightly to him. Then he grinned.
“Right. Yoroshiku.”
“Yo, Uchi-kun,” a young man called out, as he came into view.
Yara blinked at him. “Who is that?”
“Oh, this is Takahashi-kun,” Uchi explained.
“Is he from your group?” Yara asked sceptically.

“No,” Uchi answered, shaking his head. “He’s in Nakai-kun’s group.”
“Sorry to disturb you,” Takahashi panted out as he tried to catch his breath, “but we had an accident. Yamada-kun fell from a ladder and he needs treatment. We wrapped him up alright, but I told him to remain still until you’ve checked whether he’s broken or twisted something. I mean, you are the only one with an actual education, so will you please come and check on him?”
“Okay, coming,” Uchi nodded quickly. “Ja ne, Yara-kun.”
“Ja,” Yara called back as he watched the two guys running off.

“Sumimasen,” Takahashi called over his shoulder as he and Uchi got out of ear-shot.
Yara turned back to the scene in front of the door. He sighed. As he found Koichi and Tsuyoshi again, he saw that the two of them were still so wrapped up in their argument, they hadn’t even noticed what had just happened. He wondered whether those two would really actually be able to work together.

Okay, that's it for now. I hope you liked it. Please, be a bit patient withTsuyoshi, I know he's way bitchy and I wonder how he turned out like this, but he's gonna improve, I promise and I'll explain his motivation on certain things too. The character relations will also get very interesting, I think. Well, some of them are already. How on earth did I get a Tsuyoshi couple? O_o Mah, but I like it. ^^ Oh, plus, I'll introduce a surprise character in the next chapter. \^o^/ Guess who it is. I'll give you a hint: He's appeared in some of my stories, but none of them was KinKi related. Happy guessing. ^^
